Job 32 – The Amalgamation

Job 32

Thereafter these three men ceased responding to Job,

Because he remained righteous in his own eyes.

However, Elihu, the son of Barakhel the Buzite, of the clan of Ram, flared in anger,

Angry at job for claiming to be in the right more than God.

Also angry at his three friends,

Because they found no suitable reply,

Making God appear in the wrong.

Initially, Elihu waited with Job for them to speak,

For they were older than he.

But when Elihu saw that there was no answer in the mouths of these three men,

   His anger flared.

Then Elihu, the son of Barakhel the Buzite spoke out saying,

I am younger in years, and you are aged,

Therefore, I was awed and dared not voice my opinion in your presence.

I thought, ‘Those of many days should speak,

Those of many years should teach wisdom.’

But truly it is the spirit in a man,

The breath of the Almighty (Shaddai),

      That provides understanding.

Not always are the old wise,

Nor the aged who understand truth.

Based on this I say listen to me,

Allow me to declare my view.

Behold,

 I waited for your reply,

I listened for your wise thoughts,

While you found the limit of your words.

I gave my attention to you,

And behold, not one was able to refute Job,

Not one that answered his speech.

Lest you say, ‘We have found the wise course,

Only God can refute him, not a man.’

If Job had set out his case to me,

I would not have replied with your arguments.

They are shattered, they reply no more,

They have not a word to say.

Should I continue to be silent now that they have ceased speaking?

For they are silent, replying no more.

Now I too will give my reply,

I also will declare my thoughts.

For I am over filled with words,

   The spirit within compels me.

Behold, my bosom like wine not yet opened,

Like new wine skins, about to burst.

Let me speak and find relief,

Let me open my lips and make reply.

I will show partiality to no one,

   Nor flatter anyone.

For if I were skilled in flattery,

My maker would quickly bear me away.
