Study of Job 14:13 – Hidden Challenge

Job 14:13
Would that You hid me in Sheol,
Concealed me until Your wrath be past,
Appoint, me a term, then attend me.

We studied the introductions to Romans yesterday. I realized that since we are following
a book, I would not have the same question set opportunities that I have had for all the
other letters we have studied. I do not really want to post the text of the book I am using,
and I think it really helped us for the first verse. Makes me think I may have to work a
little harder or differently.

‘Sheol’ was also ‘the grave’.

‘Conceal’ was also ‘keep me secret’. ‘’Wrath’ was also ‘anger’.

‘Term’ was also ‘a time’, ‘a set time’, etc. ‘Attend’ was also ‘remember’ or ‘recall’.

I have just learned that I do not perform well working in a ‘open’ concept anymore.
When I first started working, we had offices. Then at BP, we had short walled cubes. I
did not like the ‘everyone’ can see me environment, but it was easy to collaborate, when
you needed to. Now nine years later, I need quiet to write. Sorry kid.

I have a goal this weekend to not be a loner. I skipped the walk with the adults and
bailed on the awake kids to get this done. Seems that even in the middle of something,
we are called to do different. After Bible study, there was talk of people with sin troubles.
It was sad to learn of, but it reminds me we are all sinners, still sinning, and our job is to
encourage and build up, not judge and throw out.

Job is asking to sit out the bad stuff. So, his bad stuff at the time was pretty bad, but
God makes us who we are by giving us the opportunity to overcome bad stuff. Some
one mentioned a competition where all were allowed to use any enhancements they
wanted. The point was to let underlying genetics and hard work be the things of
winning, or so they could claim. My great anger at anything Tour de France has to do
with their inability to remove cheating when it was at its most popular. So my proposed
answer to Job is to just do the work. No matter the challenge, God is only giving it to us
to make us better.
