Job 15:9
What do you know that we do not?
Understand that we have not?
I had a good day yesterday with a little happiness and the normal amount of joy. I actually pulled the most expensive card I had ever pulled from a pack of baseball cards yesterday. I also spend time teaching the kid to drive and watching some tv with the wife. There was a bit of the tv that I found offensive, but one of the topics I have been wrangling with is how to avoid judging others for not following the God decided path of right and wrong that I try to follow.
No real variations are found in the first stitch. I find it childish to think that others might have learned from experiences that we simply have not had.
The second stitch had some variation with ‘understand’ also being ‘have insight’ or ‘grasp’ and a second term of ‘not clear’, ‘missed’, or ‘beyond us’. Again, I find it odd that someone cannot understand that other people’s brain might work better than theirs in some or many ways.
I also read an article about the plural second person. In school I learned it was ‘you’ and the reader/hearer had to determine from context if you was singular or plural. Here in Texas, we simply use y’all for second person singular and everyone knows what we mean, at least verbally. We did not put it in English papers. Even the word processor tells me that you might be incorrect the way I used it right after context.
Other than the offensive scenes which are only included to offend people like me and add nothing to the plot or story telling quality, the tv show we watched is entertaining. We like to be strung along. At least in a fictional story. I do not like that in crime documentaries. Anyway, my point is that I am offended because of my God given beliefs and not because the actions shown are wrong assuming one tries to remove God from the situation.
In my efforts to teach the kid to drive, I was telling her about one of the two times I was hit from behind in the car and why the person in the rear is assumed to be at fault. In this circumstance the person who hit me assumed that I was running a stop sign and so they ran it too. Only I stopped and they did not. Unless I am on my bicycle, I am shooting for never not stopping at a stop sign on a street. It’s a rule that I believe God has asked me to follow, so I do my best to follow. It is clear that a large number of people today feel it merely a suggestion and only do so when not around a cop or to avoid an accident.
I have knowledge that not everyone else does, and I understand things that not everyone else does, but I also know that most people know and understand things that I do not and cannot. The arrogance within the speaker of this verse is profound, but I think it is the same with almost every single person on the planet. It is pride, and it is one of the most effective hindrances people have to learning who Christ is. Its why many people have been and will be brought low before finding Christ. Keep that in mind when building relationships based on sharing God with others.
