A phrase from my growing up is hindsight is 20/20. Now that it is 2020, the thing to learn is that people understand things better after they happen. It is true for the two of you and it is true for all of the rest of us.
Back in 2017, the Yankees and Red Sox got caught and punished for cheating. As it turns out, apparently the Astros were cheating then too and they are about to be punished (over two years later). The funny thing is that the uproar around the Yankees and Red Sox cheating was so quite, few heard it. The uproar around the Astros is really loud and the negativity surrounding what happens to the Astros for doing the same basic thing the Yankees and Red Sox were doing is overwhelming. Hopefully, the details are released and the punishment fits the wrong doing and is not out of place with historical perspective.
Historical perspective is a key component in the book of Ecclesiastes that King Solomon wrote based on the Wisdom given him by God and the experiences Solomon had afterwards.
Ecc 2:24-25 A person can do nothing better than to eat and drink and find satisfaction in their own toil. This too, I see, is from the hand of God, 25 for without him, who can eat or find enjoyment?
Our world is full of people trying to get more money, more power, more stuff. People did these same things is Solomon’s time, and he had more money, more power, and more stuff than anyone in his day. The results? He tells us that chasing all these things (and hoping others get punished for mistakes) is a colossal waste of time. God wants us to work, to eat, to drink, and to enjoy doing so.
We can read the words of King Solomon, but we can’t ask him questions. But what we can do is ask those we admire for their advice based on what they have learned. You two can ask your grand parents, your parent, your cousins, your aunts and uncles, your church leaders, your teachers, your friends parents, and anyone who you think can hep you. All it takes is asking someone what they think in hindsight.
2020 is a great time to look back on what was in order to make our future better. I encourage you to pray, to read the bible, and to ask questions: A simple formula for learning.
