Job 7:18
That you visit them each morning,
That you appraise them every moment.

I am not much of a literary giant and do not have all the details memorized about the base novels, but the concept of a big brother evil government watching our every move is well established and now tends to be even worse than expected with multiple non-government entities knowing much more about me than me. The idea in this verse is that God is watching us every day and every moment. I like that. I trust Him a lot more than any government or business.
“Visit” was alternatively “examine”, “inspect”, or “single out”. I much preferred the feeling behind a visit. “Each” was also utilized as “every”.
“Appraise” was selected from “test”, “try”, and “examine”. I do not think the passage is meant to be that we are tested, only that God is watching. “Moment” was also utilized as “minute”.
Although it seemed straight forward in the review, I took a lot of time to settle on this sequence. The alternative of “examine” every morning and “test” every moment had certain negative appeal that can cause great anxiety. But I believe Job was trying to encourage us. Again, maybe the irony was lost based on personal views of faith in God vs none.
I often feel too much is going on. Back to my trying to learn to be effective and not necessarily efficient. I have a list of 12 new things I could ty to do. The list of possibilities seemed endless last October when I started this process again. I do not want “analysis paralysis”, but it is hard to put things aside when they sound easy or lucrative. I continue to relearn that every day is a new day to follow God and learn to see how His will can be imposed on my plan. I cannot have huge successes without huge plans, but I cannot have success at all without His blessing. I am comforted by God’s daily and continual presence in my life. Job teaches us that even in the “bad” times, God is there with us, using us for a higher purpose. I am excited by the plans I have to further study and understand the book of Job, but knowing God is watching sure does help the everyday.
