Improvement – Job Study 161: Job 9:5

Job 9:5

God removes mountains without their awareness,

   Overturning them in His wrath.

I updated my daily task list yesterday. I removed the bit about checking stocks and revised the order to match the sequence I might actually do the tasks in. Continuous improvement. Now if I can just remember to put my glasses where they are supposed to be.

Removes was also moves and up roots. I preferred the negative consequence aspect of removes and used it. Without their awareness was also they do not know it and they know not. I preferred the shorted barrier of awareness over knowing.

Overturns was unanimous, but wrath(2) was also anger(5), and rage. Wrath just felt better.

Job is directly responding to some of the comments made by Eliphaz after mostly not responding to him earlier. We all probably have those moments where it would have been nice to say something, but we are befuddled until the opportunity passes and then a million ideas pop into our head. I generally chalk this up to the Holy Spirit keeping me from trouble, but sometimes its just because I am fearful of the possible negative outcomes.

Some days I feel old. My body feels less agile or outright hurts. But I’ve read about how the age I am is generally the most career productive that a person can be. They have enough knowledge and experience to outperform those who have just not been at it as long. I have a friend who is a little bit older, and I can see how while he has more knowledge and experience, his capacity is decreasing. So, the full gamut of life is not always about getting better. It is about using the most that you have from God each day for Him and those he calls you to serve. At 65 we do not have to be better than we were at 25, but we do have to be at 65 as engaged at we were at 25. So, strive to get better, but do not forget that the desired outcome is not to be a better you, but a better hand of God.
