Joyful along the Journey – Job Study 154: Job 8:19

Job 8:19

Behold, it continues on its joyous way,

From the earth elsewhere it will sprout again.

Word grammar check does not like my wording. I have never really liked Word from the time I had a simpler program in college that would judge how difficult my language was to read. Apparently, I had issues dumbing it down for my professors. They wanted an 8th grade reading level and I wanted college level. Typical engineers not utilizing the language.

One terrible translation has “Surely its life withers away” once again missing the point entirely. The simplest versions had “such is its happy lot” saying the plant does not care if you move it. My version combined a few ideas from the others not really selecting words but wrangling a coherent thought.

Several translations miss the point of the plant itself moving on by saying others will sprout. I dismiss this as the idea is for us to project a person rooted in Godly faith taking whatever comes, and being joyful no matter where God places them. Options on earth and sprout were available, but not worth diving into.

I really like the inferred idea behind this verse. I really dislike the incorrect translations, but God has yet to a call me to fix the whole thing. This verse is who I want to be: Joyful along the Journey.
