The Christian Man Chapter 8
Lust – The right way to deal with this powerful drive.
This chapter is full of helpful phrases, but the number one thing is that sex is for marriage between a man and his wife according to the way God set up the system. Many things flow from this basis including kids and division of work and so forth. The oddity is that no man is immune to this temptation, and we are all easily corruptible. The trick, so to speak, is to allow God to be our strength and not try to tackle this issue alone.
First Corinthians 7:1-9 is one reference given to see what God tells us about the topic. Another was Job 31:1. One point given is that the wife has authority over the body of her husband. This is often lost in the whole the wife shall submit to the husband aspect of the biblical relationship.
Some key helpful phrases: Pray to resist, Do not linger, Flee your triggers, and accept self-control from the Holy Spirit by just asking.
There was also some confidence building pieces. Seeing is not Sinning. Being attracted is not sinning. The sin is when seeing becomes a lingering look, when a second look becomes a third, when the mind begins to imagine something more, rewinding the show, or anything that brings the simple sight to a sexual thought.
Big topic, lots of aspects, and I only scratched the surface. The book and this chapter can help understand how to resist.
