Study of Job 15:15 – Holy Ones?

Job 15:15

Behold,

God puts no trust even in His holy ones,

The heavens are not pure in His sight,

I shared a thought with my wife the other day that I would not share with anyone else. That is one of the many benefits she provides me, although sometimes when I am trying to discuss theoretical possibilities, she gets tired of it pretty quick. I had a friend growing up who was good for theoretical discussions. Sometimes I feel like I need to replace that aspect missing in my current friend circle.

‘His Holy ones’ was also ‘His angels’ and ‘His Saints’. I understood it to be angels and the reference being to the fallen angels.

‘Pure’ was also ‘clean’ and ‘guiltless’. I always understood these to apply to people and the law, so I am not really sure how they can be applied to heaven unless it pertains to the lack of cleanness due to the angels falling.

I have never really put a lot of effort into understanding the workings of heaven before men were created or even how angels really impact the lives of men now that the Holy Spirit has come. I understand that God is going to provide a new heaven and a new earth for us to enjoy after our lives are over, and I certainly cannot understand even the earth on which I live. But I know there have been countless theoretic discussion of heaven and angels based on what the Bible says and what other Jewish documents contain. But my theory is that all glory goes to God and the angels are either following Him or are demons that deserve damnation.

The cats are watching my wife clean the pool. One is downstairs crying its head off and the other is here by me watching patiently. Neither cat is behaving the way one might want, and we are paying the price for my weak state allowing them to live here after my mother had passed. I learned the lesson to not make a big decision after your parent passes. Not one that I will ever need to use again, but maybe others can learn from me.

The last few weeks I have been repeatedly seeing that Christians are not perfect and one of the most important aspects of a healthy church family is loving the person, forgiving the action, and being so knowing everyone falls short. If heaven was only for the perfect, only God could ever be there. In Bible study this week, we touched on the belief of some that everyone will be forgiven and make it to heaven. I understand the attraction of this, but so much of the Bible is about negative consequences of turning from God, that I have to believe not everyone will be in heaven even thought their sins were forgiven. I certainly do not expect to see Satan there.
