Study of Job 15:26 – Fighting Against

Job 15:26

Rushing against him with their thick necks

Behind the thick layers of their shields.

Back from vacation, I am working through some things including being average. Supposedly I am average height and weight for a man in the US. That is not a good sign for everyone else. My biggest issue has always seemed to be eating, but thinking I am just an average eater is weird.

‘Rushing’ was also ‘running’ and ‘charging’. ‘Thick necks’ was also ‘stubborn’, ‘defiantly’, ‘neck taut’, and ‘in neck armor’.

‘Layers’ was also ‘bosses’ or some version of strong.

In my youth, I would occasionally watch ‘dystopian’ movies or shows that were trying to slide in as science fiction. The bulk of these are based on the rich taking over government directly. (Think Donald Trump and Elon Musk) As I see the media rushing to point out the evils of the President and his lackey, I wonder if these dystopian futures are now just the future. The supply of eggs is down about 10%, but the prices are triple. There were almost none left in the store this week. Is that a sign of the future or just a one off?

This verse is one in a string about the wicked. It is not about stupid people behaving stupidly, but about people who reject God defiantly pushing against God while not understanding His holiness and omnipotence. Our country’s leaders make it seem that we are a crazy lot fighting about which extreme we want to follow while we drug ourselves up and take from everyone else. Our leaders before them stole everything from the natives and brought slaves to do all the work. Our country is not our leaders, but we are constantly being drug down by them.

I have no idea how I could impact the plans of Trump and Musk, but I know that I can pray to God to do so. God used Nebuchadnezzar to punish His people and then he punished Nebuchadnezzar for doing so. I need to seek to become just a tool for God and ignore the temptation to fight against what I know nothing about. To those who do not believe in God, the faithful life of a Christian will look crazy. But to those of us who do believe in God, the actions of the wicked seem way beyond crazy: Stubborn folks fighting against the will of the Almighty.
