Study of Job 18:10 – #420

Job 18:10

A snare is hidden for them on the ground,

   A trap upon their path.

I am out of town working this week, and the pace is not what I am used to. I also hadn’t slept well the first two nights until after my alarm went off the second morning. I could probably get used to this, but my life would not be as productive as I expect. Of course, my expectations may be off.

‘Snare’ was also ‘rope’ or ‘noose’. ‘Hidden’ was also ‘laid’ or ‘concealed’. ‘On’ was also ‘in’.

‘Trap’ was also ‘snare’. ‘Path’ was also ‘way’ or ‘road’.

This verse follows the last with even less to add and would seem to almost be pointless. I know it has value, but I haven’t seen it yet. I am actually in my hometown this week, so I looked into my contacts of who I could reach out to while I am here. Turns out my list of contacts has fallen to the person I am here to work with and the one person I saw last time I was here. Being efficient with my contact list has made my potential very ineffective.

I have read more about politics this week than I really have over the past few. If seems that at least one journalist thinks politicians and those behind them are using religion to take over the country. They used examples of Christianity being used like this before, and it seemed to me even suggesting Christianity itself was just a political ruse. I prayed for that person’s soul.

Our ‘religion’ teaches that there is a God who created everything, He loved us so much He sent His Son to live and die for us, and everyone who believes this goes to heaven eternally. It also teaches those who do not believe will torment those who do while we live on earth. The person who wrote the article did to seem to have a saving relationship with Christ and was in great need of one. And that is why we live after conversion, to help those who need it and live around us. We all start out as non-believer, and we all continue as humans with issues. We are no better, only forgiven, and knowing it. Now all we need to do is share it.
