Job 24:13
They are those who rebel against the light,
Who will not know its ways,
Nor abide in its path.
I found for sure that a card I recently overpaid for was one I got a cheaper version of later. I may not have overpaid for this one card as I did get some others much more valuable in a deal that I was happy with, but I did over pay to have a second since I had one. I do not want to complain too much, but I did miss that I had one since that website I store everything on is down. The good thing is that I might be able to sell the first one since it is graded and got a high grade.
‘Rebel’ was also ‘defy’. ‘They’ was also ‘evil doers’.
‘Will not’ was also ‘refuse’, ‘do not’, ‘are strangers to’, ‘do not’, and ‘will not know’ was once ‘are not acquainted with’.
‘Abide’ was also ‘stay’ or ‘dwell’.
I always knew my kid was not perfect, but when she asked me for more money for the wedding I realized even money could slip her mind. My father-in-law is not as sharp as he used to be, but he is still frugal. He is ninety three and has enough coming in to cover his bills, but he still keeps wanting to spend less. He was a child of poor people during the depression, so I guess that sticks. I can afford a little more than the nominal poor person, but I still want to only buy stuff on sale.
When I think of light and paths, I think of God making His light shine on the path before me. I do not need to see beyond the light for the next step, but I do have a desire to see where it is all going. I think our sin nature wants to go away from the light regardless of knowing God is the one showing the light and knowing He has our best interest at heart. Like a parent introducing new foods over and over again until the baby eats it. My kids are picky as all get out because I was and allowed them to be.
Growing up post Star Wars, I think everyone wants to rebel. Most want to rebel against wrong like Hitler, but some want to rebel no matter what. The seemingly godless activities of our government sometimes make me think about rebelling. When I think what the two political sides are pushing us towards, I think rebellion itself is not a solution. But this verse reminds me to follow the light, to know its ways, and to abide in its path. No matter the outside influence, these activities will have me following the will of God for me.
