Study of Job 23:17 – #565 Logic

Job 23:17

Yet, I am not silenced by darkness,

With all encompassing gloom before my face.

The verse seems to be like misguided discernment based on pride. Job wants a thing to be true, so he is trying to make up things to prove it so. I took a class on logic in college, and A does not equal B in this case. Logic is not necessarily easy, especially when A and B are replaced by long strings of words by lawyers.

‘Yet’ was also ‘indeed’, ‘for’, ‘because’, and ‘if only’. The if only seems more like logical arguing. ‘Not silenced’ was also ‘vanished’, ‘cut off’, ‘severed’, and ‘destroyed’. ‘Destroyed’ sounded like overkill for sure.

‘All encompassing’ was also ‘thick’, ‘deep’, ‘death’s’, or left off. ‘Gloom’ was also ‘darkness’.

Alternately:

If only I am not destroyed by darkness,

With death’s darkness before my face.

I am experiencing why I had the door installed to this room. It is hard to focus for me with this loud booming voice downstairs. I have been seeing more and more things about ADHD as time goes by, and I am hoping that my health is the cause and not genetics. The tools I am using are helping me, but they are not all easy to apply on the fly.

As time pushes forward, I am leaning towards ditching the new to me Civic for one less ‘everything’ once the 911 comes back home. I drive so rarely, the Infiniti mostly sits. Before I got this Infiniti, I didn’t really like to drive unless I was in the 911. This Infiniti fixed that for me, but at the end of the day, I only like driving those two cars.

I convinced myself that because I liked my first two Civics so much that I would love the Type R. My logic was not sound. I had changed, I had driven much better cars than my first two Civics, and the world in which I live changed even more. The great thing in this regard about God is that He does not change, and in fact, the more you grow closer to Him, the more you understand how great that is.
