Study of Job 23:10 – #558 Pure Gold

Job 23:10

For surely, He knows my ways,

Would He assay me, I would emerge pure as gold.

Second day trying to do an old one and a new one. Really hope this is something I can stick with. I like the outcome of this effort. I believe that Job knows God is testing Him and that He will pass the test.

“For surely” was mainly “but” and also “surely”, “for”, and “if”. I combined two to get my result. I much preferred it over but. “My ways” was mainly “the way that I take”, and also, “the way with me” and “the way that I have taken”. I preferred the route that showed past behavior and expected future behavior.

“Assay” was mainly “test” or “try”. I thought the term assay was more exact and more exact seemed better here. “Emerge” was “come out” or “come forth”. Some sources did not have pure.

I like Job’s confidence. I do not have such confidence in myself, but I do know that I will succeed if I follow God. I think Job knew this even without the benefit of the Holy Spirit. God is of course all knowing and knew Job would succeed. Satan has a blind spot that of course was given him by God.

My nephew went to the hospital last night and we do not know the outcome. He has had some trying times in his life and I pray that God pulls him through everyone. I am often confident that He will. That confidence has nothing to do with me but is given to me by the Holy Spirit. Yesterday our Pastor discussed briefly how long do we keep praying over something. The asker of that question is often being impatient, but sometimes we just need to believe we have been heard.

Our lives are either continual consequences of living in sin, or if we have believed in Christ, continual being refined to be more like Christ. Our life with Christ is to be full of abundant joy and having the wisdom that joy is supremely better than happiness.

Our Pastor pronounced remnant as “remenant” so many times that I think he must not be aware. I found it funny, but some people say “amblance”, or “seal”, or many other oddities. God knows I will continue to say words that way I do and continue to make choices the way I always have, unless of course I ask Him to help. I do not want to be assayed over and over, but I do want to become pure as gold (or more Christlike), so I continue on trying to figure out the test so I can ask for the way out.    Thankfully, I know the big ask and have found Christ to be the answer for that one.
