Study of Job 20:24 – #482 Stressed Beyond My Personal Limit

Job 20:24

Should he flee from the iron sword,

A bow of bronze will pierce him.

My first thought was the poetry seems nice and the second was who cares about the inaccuracies of the ideas behind them. Of course, poets were also supposed to be held in high regard how they taught us things that sounded beautiful no matter how ugly the subject matter. I often think how poets and writers and songwriters were weird or drunk or stoned when making their craft better or at least that is the impression I get. It is at odds with the rest of my life to give credit to people who use drugs to get ahead.

No comment on the variation of sources.

I want to complain about other people. But as much as I know they are to blame, I also know that it was my fault to trust any of them. I did and do not want to live my life this way. However, I have found that if I am to continue in what I do, I cannot trust anyone and I must put systems in place for me to check everything independently of what anyone else says. Not my chosen path, but since God called me to it, I give it all I can.

I actually liken this to the day I learned not everyone was a Christian. It was a foreign concept to what I had experienced in my bubble. Now I learn that not everyone is driven to give the right answer on time. People actually don’t care about finishing on time and other people let them. I do not ever want to be like that, but it makes God’s intervention even more needed for what I do to be successful.

The worst thing about all this going on right now is that the one person I thought I could depend on is not dependable. He is overloaded as much as the rest of us. He also … Well, someday I will look back on this and … I am having to deal with the mistakes of others and assuming they would not make them. Live and learn, or repeat. Maybe if I assumed my problem was one person being led by the devil, I might pay attention a little more in that case. I might make that assumption and see how it goes. I’d at least be focusing prayer.
