Study of Job 21:15 – #501 Serve

Job 21:15

What is Shaddai that we should worship Him?

What gain do we have if we pray to Him?

Reading in Revelation this morning, these questions have been answered. We should worship God because He is worthy. We should pray for the opportunity to serve Him. The reward for those who die in the tribulation is to serve Him forever. My little issues living in this world seem trivial in comparison.

‘What’ is ‘who’ the other half of chances. ‘Shaddai’ is ‘Almighty’ the other five times. ‘Worship’ is ‘serve’ the other seven times.

‘Gain’ was also ‘profit’, ‘get’, and ‘use’. ‘Pray’ was also ‘entreat’ once.

Many of the last few days, I have tried to decide to not get upset over work stuff. The last two I could actually feel a difference. I am still not quite recovered from early in the week, but I am hoping that today I can take back my life. Well, take it back from work, and give it back to working for God.

My cats always seem to want one of three things. They want special food, be it treats or wet food and they will cry and run around trying to get it. They want to go outside; they really want to run free, but we don’t want to lose them, so they either go in a tent, on a lease, or in our arms. The final thing they want is to sleep by themselves. I see our cats as a reflection of the world only wanting for themselves.

When I try to figure out what I want and why, I fall back to the basics. I believe in Christ and what God has done through Him for me. I want to hear ‘Well done, good and faithful servant.” Therefore, I want to be the good and faithful servant God has called me to be. A friend of mine is going through something terrible that I was not aware. I went to church, sought out someone to talk to, and really helped him. I had no idea until Bible Study yesterday that God placed me there to help this man. I wasn’t trying to help in the way I did, but he was grateful. That is how I want to serve, not knowing, just doing as told.
