Job 22:11
Through darkness, you cannot see,
Nor the flood of waters covering you.
My back started acting up yesterday when I leaned over to pick something up. My father-in-law used to be ‘down in his back’ quite often. I only screamed like a baby once so far. My knee was feeling better enough that I was planning to lift weights yesterday for the first time since the mountain stair, but that is out the window.
Several sources started with ‘Or’ and made this verse seem to connect to the one before, but it does not. The words are mostly the same, but several do not get that this first stitch is setting up the next verse.
The second stitch was mainly similar with mostly the right words, but a disconnect with the context.
The phrase running through my mind is: ‘Since you are too stupid to figure it out, let me tell you what you are missing.’ I can identify with this temptation to talk down to others. My brain works differently, and some things are easy for me and are hard for others. Of course, I know the opposite is true also, that some things are easy for others and darn near impossible for me. The idea here is that Job cannot possibly know the truth since he is so messed up.
Five months later, I finally got new tires for my car. After years, I hope to take the other one in for engine service. We might even sell the extra SUV before too long. It is very interesting what you can put off when you are not in need. (Note that the day after we sold the SUV, we got a stick. Talk about being patient!)
I have been stuck on this verse for a bit now and hope that I can get back into a routine once the kid starts school next week. I do not want a routine about as much as I need one. I tried to do some research on one of my physical issues and ended up reading an ad for a supplement. I want it to be true, but I also know that that kind of marketing is indicative of snake oil. I know the pharmaceutical industry wants me to keep taking my expensive medicines, but I also want to actually get better.
My hope is that I can use my routine to figure out when God is calling me to something specific and not just stumble along from one random thing to the next looking for something fantastic when the Lord is calling me to the simple.
