Study of Job 22:14 – #533 Seeing

Job 22:14

Thick clouds seclude Him, He does not see us,

As He goes about the vaulted heavens.

I have three topics to cover, none of which seem to matter. I have made a typing error, not caught it, and a package is delayed if not possibly costing even more to get. I bought clothes for the wedding, which is just around the corner. And something which has totally escaped me as I sit here waiting for one thing before another.

‘Thick’ was only in the Christian sources. ‘Seclude’ was also ‘enwrap’, ‘veal’ (probably spelled wrong), ‘cover’, ‘screen’, and ‘shelter’. ‘Does’ was sometimes ’can’, and ‘us’ was often left off.

‘Goes’ was also ‘walks’, ‘moves’, and ‘strolls’. ‘Vaulted’ was also ‘domed’, ‘circled’, ‘circuit of’, and ‘rim of’.

Funny how I got mad at USPS for not delivering a package, and then it magically shows up after they said they sent it back. The new world is all about on demand delivery, and it makes us want to get mad and spend more to make sure future stuff arrives faster. I actually like shopping as it makes me feel a better steward. I especially hate how a return gets tossed in the trash. The inability to see what is really going on has me assuming the worst.

Wedding clothes culture is one I have never liked as renting all those tuxes to be in a wedding seemed such a waste. The cost of bride’s dresses makes me nauseous. But to do my bit I bought a suit that did not match, and I could wear again. We ended up with green, with some colored shirt I could not pronounce and a tie to tie it all in with the tuxes and dresses. I’ll probably have to buy shoes as my new suit pants might not fit over my boots, or at least not to my wife’s satisfaction. At a minimum, I have a suit that fits and I can use if I ever need one again.

The issue with this verse is that they people who feel this way are putting God in a box that does not apply. To think that God cannot see through clouds, that He is not seeing everything we do, and that He is not paying attention goes beyond my understanding of who God is. If God could not do these things, then why bother believing in Him at all? One of the key ideas I have seen is that God works outside time and knows the beginning, the end, and all in between all at once. This is a God that I can put my faith in. Anything less is a pagan idol.
